Auto sales in June saw mixed trends. 2Ws and PVs declined month-on-month, with PVs also down YoY. 3Ws held steady, while tractors posted growth on strong rural demand. CVs dipped due to seasonal slowdown. A recovery is expected from July with festive and agri-led demand.
Alternate fuel adoption in India varies by vehicle type. Three-wheelers lead with strong electric and CNG uptake. Two-wheelers show steady EV growth. Passenger vehicles are slowly diversifying with rising EV, CNG, and hybrid shares. Commercial vehicles remain largely diesel-driven, with limited progress in electrification. Tractors continue to rely almost entirely on diesel. The shift is most visible in urban light vehicles, with slower change in heavier and rural segments.
